In this heartwarming episode of "Bounce Back Stronger," we delve into the extraordinary love story of Gin Carter - a marine biologist, author, yoga/meditation teacher, and veterinary student - whose pursuit of happiness led her to challenge and change laws. We follow Gin as she navigates the legal landscape, breaks barriers, and ultimately reshapes the rules for the sake of true love.
But this episode isn't just about Gin's remarkable journey. We also explore the broader theme of animals as healers and companions and are reminded of our interconnectedness through a discussion of Gin’s book Parent, Trapped: Voices of Parenthood from Behind Bars. Join us for an inspiring and uplifting episode that explores the lengths we go for love, the courage involved in rewriting the rules, and the incredible healing power of the animal kingdom.

Get ready to dive deep with Erin Byron, who we are honored to have as our first guest! She's not your average therapist – Erin's a Registered Psychotherapist, yoga therapist, and co-author of books like "Yoga for the Creative Soul," and the brain behind Trauma Aware Certified Training.
We kick things off by chatting about what Erin's noticing in her students and clients post-pandemic. And surprisingly guilt becomes the topic du jour and why leaving it behind is the key to real healing. Then, we get into the nitty-gritty of emergency self-care and self-regulation, straight from Erin's upcoming book "Safety First" (dropping in April 2024) - which leads us to discuss the poet Rumi. Then we wrap up with a discussion of the healing benefits of creativity and how to take care of ourselves in tricky holiday social situations.

This four-minute mindfulness practice provides a bit of calm. Hope you will take a listen and share it with those who might benefit. Thank you.

This episode is a salve for the difficult days which can include holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, or just a day when we are overwhelmed with emotions. One of the best tools for those days is mindfulness - and my favorite mindfulness teacher? My WonderDog, Jake - because dogs are masters of staying in the moment.
Listen to hear what I mean and how mindfulness can help us stop ruminating thoughts, and focus on generating self-compassion and resilience.
Towards the end of the episode, I will lead a short simple mindfulness practice, and there will be a separate episode with just that meditation so you can use it when you need it.
I hope this episode is helpful for you. If it is, please join us on this journey toward peace and purpose by subscribing, leaving a review, and sharing this episode with others.

The Science of Resilience

Wednesday Nov 15, 2023

Wednesday Nov 15, 2023

In this episode we unravel the science of resilience, because I'm a skeptic, and always like a little science in my wisdom. Listen in for insights from the teachings of the late Dr. Steven Southwick - a distinguished expert in psychology and neuroscience from Yale - and learn how we all can apply his teachings to our lives. So we can Bounce Back Stronger from whatever life throws our way.

Bounce Back Stronger

What is this podcast about? How to Bounce Back Stronger from difficulty. What kind of difficulty?

Whatever’s keeping you up at night.

Could be loss of a job, loss of a loved one through death, divorce or estrangement. It could be that you’re managing a transition at work, in your relationship, or at home.

Whatever it is, this podcast will share information on how others (including me) got through their dark times. We will share conversations with and stories of people who’ve faced all this and more. Who’ve found the other side.  Have worked a healing process. Have tools to share – and are willing to be vulnerable and real about what they’ve been through.

So whether you're searching for inspiration, looking to discover your own resilience, or simply seeking a reminder of the power within us all, "Bounce Back Stronger" is here to ignite that spark within your soul.
